Osteopathic techniques can be particularly effective with many animals, especially horses for which I have received specialized training and in the past I have successfully treated not only pets, but also farm animals.
However I am not a Vet' and do not presume to have knowledge of all veterinary conditions. It is therefore essential that I speak with your animal's vet' to confirm that Osteopathic treatment will be of benefit. Furthermore, it is illegal to treat an animal without a vet's consent.
Horses
As a horse owner myself and with a specialism in equine osteopathy, I am pleased to help with horses as well as riders. Because I am involved with horses, I understand what is required in the differing disciplines and how supple and fit both members of a partnership need to be, whether you just enjoy a hack or compete at higher levels.
Horses are extremely sensitive creatures and I embarked upon my studies in order to aid my own horses. I initially trained under the late Tony Pusey who inspired me to work more with these animals cranially. Therefore, I do not involve a lot of mauling, but gently read the tissue states and qualities, which will usually indicate to me where disharmony may lie.
Dogs
Dogs- 'Man's best friend', can also share in our arthritic and degenerative problems; making them very grumpy.
My first experience of this was when my old dog 'Lucy' appeared depressed and withdrawn. Her arthritic hip was making her uncharacteristically withdrawn. Osteopathic treatment helped, and anti-inflammatory drugs were also used to obtain the best outcome.
Dogs are often in need of Osteopathic attention. Please refer to our Development page, which deals in greater depth with animal treatments.
